Commercial solar just got a $300M federal injection. Here's what's in it for installers.

A Brisbane solar business quadrupled revenue in 90 days. Commercial solar just got $300M in new federal funding. And the winter objection — answered with data.

THE SOLAR AI

G'day ⚡
Short one this week. Three things worth knowing before Monday.
A customer story that speaks for itself. A commercial solar funding announcement most installers haven't seen. And the data behind the objection killing July pipelines.

⭐ CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT

"We were quoting 40 jobs a month. We're now closing 160. Same leads, same team, same ad spend."

Marcus came to us in April with a problem that sounds familiar.

40 leads a month coming through Google Ads. His team calling them back the next morning. Conversion sitting at 18%.

He wasn't losing on price. He wasn't losing on product. He was losing on speed.

We deployed JAMES on a Tuesday. By Friday, every new lead was being called within 60 seconds , including the ones that came in at 10pm, and the ones that arrived on Saturday morning while Marcus was at his daughter's football.

90 days later:

  • Leads called within 60 seconds: 100% (was 40%)

  • Conversion rate: 43% (was 18%)

  • Monthly revenue: 4x (same ad spend)

  • No-shows: down 67%

"I used to think we needed more leads. Turns out we needed to stop giving away the ones we already had."

Marcus is happy for us to share this. He's also happy to talk to any installer who wants to hear it directly.

Feature Story

The federal government just committed $300M to commercial solar. Most residential installers don't know what's in it for them.

The federal government's Capacity Investment Scheme continues to pump capital into large-scale and commercial solar across NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and TAS — with the next tender (CIS Tender 9, targeting 5 GW of generation capacity) opening this week and bids closing 20 July 2026.

More practically for the businesses reading this:

Commercial rooftop solar — warehouses, factories, shopping centres, schools, strata buildings , is the most underserved segment of the Australian solar market right now. The residential market is competitive and well-served. The commercial market has enormous demand, government incentives, and far fewer qualified installers competing for it.

Three commercial conversations worth having this week:

Warehouses and industrial: energy costs are their second-largest operating expense after wages. A 100kW rooftop system at current commercial electricity prices pays back in under 4 years. The federal Small-scale and Large-scale Renewable Energy Scheme both apply.

Schools and councils: the NSW and QLD government bulk-buy schemes are active. Schools can access funding through the CEFC (Clean Energy Finance Corporation) at rates unavailable to the private market.

Strata buildings: ARENA's recent funding of lower-cost EV charging across strata apartments is opening the door to solar conversations in a market previously locked out. Shared solar for multi-dwelling units is now a fundable, viable conversation.

The pipeline you build in July closes in October, November and December. This is the week to start.

The Offer

Happy Snow Angels GIF by Robert E Blackmon

Every July, one objection dominates: "We'll wait until it's warmer."

Here's the accurate, data-backed answer in one paragraph:

Solar panels are more efficient in cold weather than in heat. Every degree above 25°C reduces output. A clear, cold July day in Melbourne often generates more power per hour than a hazy 38°C February afternoon. The difference in winter is daylight hours — not panel performance. With a battery, the midday peak is stored and used in the evening. And Solcast (a DNV company) forecasts above-normal solar irradiance across eastern Australia for the second half of 2026.

The close: "The best time to install is before spring — by the time approval, connection and commissioning are done, spring is exactly when it starts generating at full capacity."

The Marcus story above isn't unusual. It's the pattern we see consistently across the solar businesses running LeadTrackAI and Solar AI.

The gap is never the leads. It's almost never the price. It's almost never the product.

It's response speed — and the qualification process that follows.

Here's what the AI stack that powered Marcus's result actually looks like:

Layer 1 — Google and Meta campaigns (run by Solar AI) that generate exclusive, high-intent leads. Not shared with four competitors. Yours alone.

Layer 2 — JAMES (powered by LeadTrackAI) calls every lead within 60 seconds. Qualifies them by voice. Books the appointment. Handles the no-answer follow-up sequence automatically.

Layer 3 — Compliance — every campaign and every call is ACMA compliant. That's not a footnote. It's a structural requirement that most competitors don't meet.

The result: your sales team arrives each morning to a calendar of booked, qualified appointments. Their job is to close — not to chase.

New panel tech — max rebate window is now.

Enphase launched its IQ9N microinverter in Australia this week — gallium nitride technology, highest efficiency available here. Best for complex, shaded, multi-orientation rooftops. Quote it for every roof your competitors said was "too hard." The rebate reduces January 1, 2027 , five and a half months away. The businesses starting that conversation now fill their December calendars.

NT has a $12,000 battery grant.

The Northern Territory Home and Business Battery Scheme offers grants of up to $12,000 for battery storage — stackable with the federal rebate. Most mainland installers don't know it exists. If you have NT connections or partners — this is the week to use them.
