Renewables just hit 50% of Australia's grid. The rebate cliff is 31 days away. Here's what top installers are doing right now — and what most are getting wrong.

THE SOLAR AI
G'day,
Renewables just crossed 50% of Australia's electricity supply.
Large-scale solar hit a record 30.6% grid share in February.
And yet most residential installers I speak to are still losing leads on the weekend.
The market is bigger than ever. The follow-up problem hasn't changed.
Here's what shifted this week, and what to do about it.
Feature Story
What Just Changed

On May 1, the federal battery rebate drops by nearly 20%.
Right now, the Cheaper Home Batteries Program pays $311 per kWh of storage capacity. From May 1, that falls to $252/kWh and it drops again every six months after that.
For a 30 kWh system, that's the difference between $9,330 in rebates today and $7,560 from next month.
The federal government's $7.2 billion program was designed to drive mass adoption and it's working. But the May 1 cliff is real, and most homeowners have no idea it's coming.
Here's the part that most installers are missing: the bottleneck right now is not demand. SolarQuotes is reporting that the real constraint is accredited installer capacity not customer intent.
Translation: customers want to move. They just need someone to give them a reason why now is the moment.
What This Means
You have 31 days.
Every lead in your pipeline who said "maybe later" now has a hard reason to act. Every referral sitting in your inbox. Every web form from the last 90 days. Every quote you sent that went quiet.
This is the window to reactivate them and the pitch is simple:
What most installers get wrong right now: they're waiting for inbound instead of working the database they already have.
The best-performing solar companies we work with sent a rebate-deadline reactivation sequence to every unsold quote from the last six months. They did this two weeks ago.
The others are waiting for the phone to ring.
⚡ DEADLINE ALERT The federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate reduces on May 1, 2026. That's 31 days for your leads to act — are you following up fast enough?
